privacy & cookies

kpop.no is a hobby fan site. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it sets no cookies. This page explains the little it does handle.

Last updated 1 November 2026

tl;dr
  • kpop.no sets no cookies and uses no analytics or ad trackers.
  • Your chat name and messages are public to everyone in the room and are deleted after an hour.
  • Guestbook entries are public and kept until they drop off the list (the newest 200 are kept). Ask and we'll delete yours.
  • Game progress, your notepad text and your chat name stay in your own browser.
  • The music videos come from YouTube. Google can see that you're watching, like on any site with YouTube videos.

Who is responsible

kpop.no is run by SH, Norway, who is the data controller under the GDPR. Questions, deletion requests or complaints: svett.korall_7i@icloud.com.

What kpop.no stores on its server

WhatWhyHow long
Chat messages: the name you pick, your message, its time and a colourTo show the watch-party chat to everyone in the roomDeleted automatically after 1 hour (at most the latest 80 are kept until then)
Guestbook entries: name, message, optional bias, mood and timeTo show the guestbook, which you choose to signUntil newer entries push it out of the latest 200, or until you ask us to delete it
Visit count: one numberThe retro hit counterKept; it contains nothing about you

Nothing else about visitors is saved. There are no accounts, no email addresses and no profiles. Please don't post your real full name, address or other private details in the chat or guestbook: everything there is public.

Your IP address

Your browser has to send your IP address to reach the site. kpop.no uses it, in memory only, to stop spam and abuse: to limit how many chat connections one address can open, how fast it can post, how often it can sign the guestbook (once per 30 seconds) and so the hit counter counts a visitor once per 10 minutes. The address is never written to storage and is forgotten after a few minutes (or when the server restarts).

Hosting (Cloudflare)

The site runs on Cloudflare, which delivers every page and processes your IP address and request details on our behalf to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Cloudflare may process data outside the EU/EEA, covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the EU's standard contractual clauses. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Legal basis

We process this information on the basis of our legitimate interest (GDPR article 6(1)(f)) in running a fun fan site that works and isn't overrun by spam, and in showing the chat and guestbook posts you choose to write.

Cookies and browser storage

kpop.no sets no cookies. Some features save small notes in your own browser (local storage) so they remember you between visits. These are only created when you use the feature, stay on your device and aren't sent to us. The one exception is your chat name, which is sent when you join the chat. Because these are needed for features you choose to use, they don't need consent under the Norwegian Electronic Communications Act (ekomloven) or the EU ePrivacy rules.

NameWhat it remembers
kpop-chat-nameThe chat name you picked, so you don't have to type it again (the guestbook fills it in too)
kpop.notepadWhat you typed in the notepad window
kpop-gachaYour photocard binder, pulls and daily lucky-pull streak
kpop-petYour bias pet
kpop-mvguess, kpop-mvguess-statsToday's guess-the-MV progress and your stats
kpop-yuqi-loveHow many times you've sent love to the Yuqi shrine
kpop-notifs-muted, kpop-bunni-noWhether you've turned off the fake notifications or the Bunni helper
kpop-counted (this tab only)That this visit was already counted by the hit counter; deleted when you close the tab

To wipe all of it, clear this site's data in your browser settings ("cookies and site data" for kpop.no).

Outside services your browser talks to

Some parts of the page are loaded straight from other services. When that happens your browser connects to them directly, so they receive your IP address and normal browser information, and they handle it under their own privacy policies.

  • YouTube (Google): the watch party, the TV, the mini player and guess-the-MV play official music videos through YouTube's embedded player, in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which doesn't use YouTube's tracking cookies for ads and recommendations. Google still receives your IP address and may store some data in your browser to make the player work. See Google's privacy policy.
  • 7TV (cdn.7tv.app, 7tv.io): the chat emotes. See 7TV's privacy policy.
  • Wikimedia Commons (upload.wikimedia.org, thumb.wikimedia.org): the photocard photos. See the Wikimedia privacy policy.

The news ticker's headlines are fetched by our server, not your browser, so the news sites learn nothing about you unless you click a headline. Links to other sites (allkpop, X, Instagram, Spotify…) only take you there when you click them.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information about you, ask us to restrict how it's used, or object to how it's used. In practice the only thing we can find is a guestbook entry (or, within the hour, a chat message), so tell us the name, roughly when you posted and what it said. Email svett.korall_7i@icloud.com; we answer within 30 days, usually much sooner.

If you think we've handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

Everyone's welcome. If you're under 13, please don't write anything about yourself in the chat or guestbook that could identify you, and ask a parent or guardian if you're unsure. A parent can ask us to delete a guestbook entry.

Changes

If the site starts handling data differently, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed.
